But if the man came across ¹  the engaged woman in the field and overpowered her and raped ²  her, then only the rapist ³  must die.

The man did just as Joseph said; he ¹  brought the men into Joseph’s house. ² 

The man bowed his head and worshiped the Lord,

So Manoah got up and followed his wife. When he met ¹  the man, he said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to my wife?” ²  He said, “Yes.” ³ 

When he looked up and saw the traveler ¹  in the town square, the old man said, “Where are you heading? Where do you come from?”

Take your brother too, and go right away ¹  to the man. ² 

Then the man will be free from iniquity, but that woman will bear the consequences ¹  of her iniquity.’” ² 

The elders of that city must then seize the man and punish ¹  him.

The Lord shows his faithful followers the way they should live. ¹ 

He is not enamored with the strength of a horse, nor is he impressed by the warrior’s strong legs. ¹ 

For my husband ¹  is not at home; ²  he has gone on a journey of some distance.

(Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban.) ¹  Laban rushed out to meet the man at the spring.

So they called Rebekah and asked her, “Do you want ¹  to go with this man?” She replied, “I want to go.”

The man became wealthy. ¹  His influence continued to grow ²  until he became very prominent.

In this way Jacob ¹  became extremely prosperous. He owned ²  large flocks, male and female servants, camels, and donkeys.

When Joseph reached Shechem, ¹  a man found him wandering ²  in the field, so the man asked him, “What are you looking for?”

“The man, the lord of the land, spoke harshly to us and treated us ¹  as if we were ²  spying on the land.

So they approached the man who was in charge of Joseph’s household and spoke to him at the entrance to the house.

Moses agreed ¹  to stay with the man, and he gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage. ² 

and the priest who pronounces him clean will have the man who is being cleansed stand along with these offerings ¹  before the Lord at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.
