So he used suffering to humble them; ¹  they stumbled and no one helped them up.

Ezer was the leader, Obadiah the second in command, Eliab the third,

the twenty-fourth to Romamti-Ezer and his sons and relatives – twelve in all.

for I rescued the poor who cried out for help, and the orphan who ¹  had no one to assist him;

They destroy ¹  my path; they succeed in destroying me ²  without anyone assisting ³  them.

Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me! O Lord, deliver me!” ¹ 

Look, God is my deliverer! ¹  The Lord is among those who support me. ² 

For he will rescue the needy ¹  when they cry out for help, and the oppressed ²  who have no defender.

When they stumble, they will be granted some help. But many will unite with them deceitfully.

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. ¹  I will make a companion ²  for him who corresponds to him.” ³ 

I looked, but there was no one to help; I was shocked because there was no one offering support. ¹  So my right arm accomplished deliverance; my raging anger drove me on. ² 

So the man named all the animals, the birds of the air, and the living creatures of the field, but for Adam ¹  no companion who corresponded to him was found. ² 

They marched out at noon, while Ben Hadad and the thirty-two kings allied with him were drinking heavily ¹  in their quarters. ² 

The Lord saw Israel’s intense suffering; ¹  everyone was weak and incapacitated and Israel had no deliverer. ²

Then you ¹  spoke through a vision to your faithful followers ²  and said: “I have energized a warrior; ³  I have raised up a young man ⁴  from the people.

The Egyptians are mere humans, not God; their horses are made of flesh, not spirit. The Lord will strike with ¹  his hand; the one who helps will stumble and the one being helped will fall. Together they will perish. ²

A wind ¹  lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the Lord’s temple that faces the east. There, at the entrance of the gate, I noticed twenty-five men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, officials of the people. ²
