But ¹  you must not eat meat ²  with its life (that is, ³  its blood) in it. ⁴ 

On ¹  the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin ²  must be circumcised.

But whenever raw flesh appears in it ¹  he will be unclean,

You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters. ¹ 

Do I eat the flesh of bulls? Do I drink the blood of goats? ¹ 

From where shall I get ¹  meat to give to this entire people, for they cry to me, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat!’ ² 

Now Abraham was 99 years old ¹  when he was circumcised; ² 

“Do you have eyes of flesh, ¹  or do you see ²  as a human being sees? ³ 

all flesh would perish together and human beings would return to dust.

You hear prayers; ¹  all people approach you. ² 

He remembered ¹  that they were made of flesh, and were like a wind that blows past and does not return. ² 

to the one who gives food to all living things, ¹  for his loyal love endures.

Do not spend time ¹  among drunkards, ²  among those who eat too much ³  meat,

for the life of all flesh is its blood. ¹  So I have said to the Israelites: You must not eat the blood of any living thing ²  because the life of every living thing is its blood – all who eat it will be cut off. ³ 

“And say to the people, ‘Sanctify yourselves ¹  for tomorrow, and you will eat meat, for you have wept in the hearing ²  of the Lord, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat, ³  for life ⁴  was good for us in Egypt?” Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you will eat.

When the Lord your God extends your borders as he said he would do and you say, “I want to eat meat just as I please,” ¹  you may do so as you wish. ² 

I will reduce the people of this city to desperate straits during the siege imposed on it by their enemies who are seeking to kill them. I will make them so desperate that they will eat the flesh of their own sons and daughters and the flesh of one another.”’” ¹ 

You must circumcise the flesh of your foreskins. This will be a reminder ¹  of the covenant between me and you.
