The Israelites ¹  hate anyone who arbitrates at the city gate; ²  they despise anyone who speaks honestly.

Are God’s consolations ¹  too trivial for you; ²  or a word spoken ³  in gentleness to you?

Whoever lives a blameless life, ¹  does what is right, and speaks honestly. ² 

which my lips uttered and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble.

Anxiety ¹  in a person’s heart ²  weighs him down, ³  but an encouraging ⁴  word brings him joy. ⁵ 

In all hard work ¹  there is profit, but merely talking about it ²  only brings ³  poverty. ⁴ 

A gentle response ¹  turns away anger, but a harsh word ²  stirs up wrath. ³ 

A person has joy ¹  in giving an appropriate answer, ²  and a word at the right time ³  – how good it is!

The delight of kings ¹  is righteous counsel, ²  and they love the one who speaks ³  uprightly. ⁴ 

The grass dries up, the flowers wither, but the decree of our God is forever reliable.” ¹ 

As you move forward for battle, the priest ¹  will approach and say to the soldiers, ² 

When David got up the next morning, the Lord had already spoken ¹  to Gad the prophet, David’s seer:

Isaiah was still in the middle courtyard when the Lord told him, ¹ 

But the king’s edict stood, despite Joab’s objections. ¹  So Joab left and traveled throughout Israel before returning to Jerusalem. ² 

I will not keep silent about its limbs, and the extent of its might, and the grace of its arrangement. ¹ 

He ¹  will speak for you to the people, and it will be as if ²  he ³  were your mouth ⁴  and as if you were his God. ⁵ 

And ¹  whenever Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent, and the Lord ²  would speak with Moses. ³ 

Balaam said to Balak, “Station yourself ¹  by your burnt offering, and I will go off; perhaps the Lord will come to meet me, and whatever he reveals to me ²  I will tell you.” ³  Then he went to a deserted height. ⁴ 

God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a human being, ¹  that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it happen? ² 

I will raise up a prophet like you for them from among their fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth and he will speak to them whatever I command.
