but in the end ¹  she is bitter ²  as wormwood, ³  sharp as a two-edged ⁴  sword.

he winks with his eyes, signals with his feet, and points with his fingers; ¹ 

And another man ¹  dies in bitterness of soul, ²  never having tasted ³  anything good.

They will lament loudly ¹  over you and cry bitterly. They will throw dust on their heads and roll in the ashes; ² 

Then they came to Marah, ¹  but they were not able to drink ²  the waters of Marah, because ³  they were bitter. ⁴  (That is ⁵  why its name was ⁶  Marah.)

But when she reached the prophet on the mountain, she grabbed hold of his feet. Gehazi came near to push her away, but the prophet said, “Leave her alone, for she is very upset. ¹  The Lord has kept the matter hidden from me; he didn’t tell me about it.”
