Then God said, “I now ¹  give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the entire earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. ² 

O children ¹  of Israel, God’s ²  servant, you descendants of Jacob, God’s ³  chosen ones!

A whole generation ¹  will serve him; they will tell the next generation about the sovereign Lord. ² 

The godly bask in the light; the morally upright experience joy. ¹ 

O children ¹  of Abraham, ²  God’s ³  servant, you descendants ⁴  of Jacob, God’s ⁵  chosen ones!

All the descendants of Israel will be vindicated by the Lord and will boast in him. ¹ 

You loyal followers of the Lord, ¹  praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! All you descendants of Israel, stand in awe of him! ² 

But approach, you sons of omen readers, you offspring of adulteresses and prostitutes! ¹ 

Abram added, ¹  “Since ²  you have not given me a descendant, then look, one born in my house will be my heir!” ³ 

Come, let’s make our father drunk with wine ¹  so we can have sexual relations ²  with him and preserve ³  our family line through our father.” ⁴ 

Then Judah said to Onan, “Have sexual relations with ¹  your brother’s wife and fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to her so that you may raise ²  up a descendant for your brother.” ³ 

Now, if such a carcass falls on any sowing seed which is to be sown, ¹  it is clean,

but if water is put on the seed and such a carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.

When a man has sexual intercourse with a woman and there is a seminal emission, ¹  they must bathe in water and be unclean until evening.

This is the law of the one with a discharge: the one who has a seminal emission ¹  and becomes unclean by it, ² 

But if the woman has not defiled herself, and is clean, then she will be free of ill effects ¹  and will be able to bear children.

“You will take much seed to the field but gather little harvest, because locusts will consume it.

Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, ¹  the Midianites, Amalekites, and the people from the east would attack them. ² 

I will humiliate David’s descendants because of this, ¹  but not forever.” ² 

Those truly of Israelite descent ¹  separated from all the foreigners, ²  standing and confessing their sins and the iniquities of their ancestors. ³
