Smoke streams from its nostrils as from a boiling pot over burning ¹  rushes.

The sound of their voices shook the door frames, ¹  and the temple was filled with smoke.

I will produce portents both in the sky ¹  and on the earth – blood, fire, and columns of smoke.

When the men of Ai turned around, they saw ¹  the smoke from the city ascending into the sky and were so shocked they were unable to flee in any direction. ²  In the meantime the men who were retreating to the desert turned against their pursuers.
