They journeyed from Sukkoth and camped in Etham, on the edge of the desert.

“No,” he insisted, “but you have come to see if our land is vulnerable.” ¹ 

They traveled from Succoth, and camped in Etham, which is on the edge of the wilderness.

Isaac asked them, “Why have you come to me? You hate me ¹  and sent me away from you.”

Then I said to you, “You have come to the Amorite hill country which the Lord our God is about to give ¹  us.

Then Joseph remembered ¹  the dreams he had dreamed about them, and he said to them, “You are spies; you have come to see if our land is vulnerable!” ² 

for you have not yet come to the final stop ¹  and inheritance the Lord your God is giving you.
