“Whoever sheds human blood, ¹  by other humans ²  must his blood be shed; for in God’s image ³  God ⁴  has made humankind.”

So I poured my anger on them ¹  because of the blood they shed on the land and because of the idols with which they defiled it. ² 

You must not eat it! You must pour it out on the ground like water.

He pours contempt on noblemen and disarms ¹  the powerful. ² 

“And now my soul pours itself out within me; ¹  days of suffering take hold of me.

his archers ¹  surround me. Without pity ²  he pierces ³  my kidneys and pours out my gall ⁴  on the ground.

My strength drains away like water; ¹  all my bones are dislocated; my heart ²  is like wax; it melts away inside me.

Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Before our very eyes may the shed blood of your servants be avenged among the nations! ¹
