So Esau (also known as Edom) lived in the hill country of Seir. ¹ 

These were the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz, the son of Esau’s wife Adah, and Reuel, the son of Esau’s wife Basemath.

So that same day Esau made his way back ¹  to Seir.

What follows is the account of Esau (also known as Edom). ¹ 

How the people of Esau ¹  will be thoroughly plundered! ²  Their ³  hidden valuables will be ransacked! ⁴ 

Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew; Esau ate and drank, then got up and went out. ¹  So Esau despised his birthright. ² 

Now Rebekah had been listening while Isaac spoke to his son Esau. ¹  When Esau went out to the open fields to hunt down some wild game and bring it back, ² 

Esau said to his father, “Do you have only that one blessing, my father? Bless me too!” ¹  Then Esau wept loudly. ² 

Timna, a concubine of Esau’s son Eliphaz, bore Amalek to Eliphaz. These were the sons ¹  of Esau’s wife Adah.

These were the sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah the daughter of Anah and granddaughter ¹  of Zibeon: She bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah to Esau.

These were the chiefs ¹  among the descendants ²  of Esau, the sons of Eliphaz, Esau’s firstborn: chief Teman, chief Omar, chief Zepho, chief Kenaz,

These were the sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah: chief Jeush, chief Jalam, chief Korah. These were the chiefs descended from Esau’s wife Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah.

and to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. To Esau I assigned Mount Seir, ¹  while Jacob and his sons went down to Egypt.

Then he asked, “Are you really my son Esau?” “I am,” Jacob ¹  replied.

Now Jacob cooked some stew, ¹  and when Esau came in from the open fields, he was famished.
