I will provide pasture ¹  for your livestock and you will eat your fill.”

It will produce thorns and thistles for you, but you will eat the grain ¹  of the field.

You will also know that your children ¹  will be numerous, and your descendants ²  like the grass of the earth.

My days are coming to an end, ¹  and I am withered like grass.

They ate all the vegetation in their land, and devoured the crops of their fields. ¹ 

They traded their majestic God ¹  for the image of an ox that eats grass.

The land produced vegetation – plants yielding seeds according to their kinds, and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. God saw that it was good.

You may eat any moving thing that lives. ¹  As I gave you ²  the green plants, I now give ³  you everything.

Their residents are powerless, ¹  they are terrified and ashamed. They are as short-lived as plants in the field, or green vegetation. ²  They are as short-lived as grass on the rooftops ³  when it is scorched by the east wind. ⁴ 

May there be ¹  an abundance ²  of grain in the earth; on the tops ³  of the mountains may it ⁴  sway! ⁵  May its ⁶  fruit trees ⁷  flourish ⁸  like the forests of Lebanon! ⁹  May its crops be as abundant as the grass of the earth!
