Whenever ¹  I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,

“‘You must not eat anything with the blood still in it. ¹  You must not practice either divination or soothsaying. ² 

But approach, you sons of omen readers, you offspring of adulteresses and prostitutes! ¹ 

I will remove the sorcery ¹  that you practice, ²  and you will no longer have omen readers living among you. ³ 

There must never be found among you anyone who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, ¹  anyone who practices divination, ²  an omen reader, ³  a soothsayer, ⁴  a sorcerer, ⁵

Those nations that you are about to dispossess listen to omen readers and diviners, but the Lord your God has not given you permission to do such things.

So do not listen to your prophets or to those who claim to predict the future by divination, ¹  by dreams, by consulting the dead, ²  or by practicing magic. They keep telling you, ‘You do not need to be ³  subject to the king of Babylon.’
