I, I am the Lord, and there is no deliverer besides me.

Amos replied ¹  to Amaziah, “I was not a prophet by profession. ²  No, ³  I was a herdsman who also took care of ⁴  sycamore fig trees. ⁵ 

Hear, O kings! Pay attention, O rulers! I will sing to the Lord! ¹  I will sing ²  to the Lord God of Israel!

I, I am the one who blots out your rebellious deeds for my sake; your sins I do not remember.

Instead he will say, ‘I am no prophet – indeed, I am a farmer, for a man has made me his indentured servant since my youth.’ ¹ 

Abraham said, “I swear to do this.” ¹ 

“I am the servant of Abraham,” he began.

If I am guilty, ¹  why then ²  weary myself ³  in vain? ⁴ 

Then call, ¹  and I will answer, or I will speak, and you respond to me.

You will call ¹  and I ²  – I will answer you; you will long for ³  the creature you have made. ⁴ 

Bear with me ¹  and I ²  will speak, and after I have spoken ³  you may mock. ⁴ 

You said, ¹  ‘Pay attention, and I will speak; I will question you, and you will answer me.’

May my thoughts ¹  be pleasing to him! I will rejoice in the Lord.

I am insignificant and despised, yet I do not forget your precepts.

I will go down with you to Egypt and I myself will certainly bring you back from there. ¹  Joseph will close your eyes.” ² 

Micah said to him, “Where do you come from?” He replied, “I am a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah. I am looking for a new place to live.” ¹ 

Then the guard ¹  cries out: “On the watchtower, O sovereign master, ²  I stand all day long; at my post I am stationed every night.

“I, I am the one who consoles you. ¹  Why are you afraid of mortal men, of mere human beings who are as short-lived as grass? ² 

Look, I create the craftsman, who fans the coals into a fire and forges a weapon. ¹  I create the destroyer so he might devastate.
