When Joshua was very old, ¹  the Lord told him, “You are very old, and a great deal of land remains to be conquered.

Isaac ¹  said, “Since ²  I am so old, I could die at any time. ³ 

Although its roots may grow old ¹  in the ground and its stump begins to die ²  in the soil, ³ 

So Sarah laughed to herself, thinking, ¹  “After I am worn out will I have pleasure, ²  especially when my husband is old too?” ³ 

Now Abraham was old, well advanced in years, ¹  and the Lord had blessed him ²  in everything.

In his old age Samuel appointed his sons as judges over Israel.

King David was very old; ¹  even when they covered him with blankets, ²  he could not get warm.

So he asked Gehazi, ¹  “What can I do for her?” Gehazi replied, “She has no son, and her husband is old.”

When David was old and approaching the end of his life, ¹  he made his son Solomon king over Israel.

Jehoiada grew old and died at the age of 130. ¹ 

I was once young, now I am old. I have never seen a godly man abandoned, or his children ¹  forced to search for food. ² 

Train ¹  a child ²  in the way that he should go, ³  and when he is old he will not turn from it. ⁴ 

Listen to your father who begot you, and do not despise your mother when she is old.

The Lord said to Abraham, “Why ¹  did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really ²  have a child when I am old?’

Later the older daughter said ¹  to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man anywhere nearby ²  to have sexual relations with us, ³  according to the way of all the world.

When ¹  Isaac was old and his eyes were so weak that he was almost blind, ²  he called his older ³  son Esau and said to him, “My son!” “Here I am!” Esau ⁴  replied.

So Joshua summoned all Israel, including the elders, rulers, judges, and leaders, and told them: “I am very old.

They said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons don’t follow your ways. So now appoint over us a king to lead ¹  us, just like all the other nations have.”

Now look! This king walks before you. As for me, I am old and gray, though my sons are here with you. I have walked before you from the time of my youth till the present day.

But Barzillai was very old – eighty years old, in fact – and he had taken care of the king when he stayed in Mahanaim, for he was a very rich ¹  man.
