But David captured the fortress of Zion (that is, the city of David).

Then David passed away ¹  and was buried in the city of David. ² 

When Saul recognized David’s voice, he said, “Is that your voice, my son David?” David replied, “Yes, it’s my voice, my lord the king.”

Now David, wearing a linen ephod, was dancing with all his strength before the Lord. ¹ 

David reigned over all Israel; he guaranteed justice for all his people. ¹ 

When David got up the next morning, the Lord had already spoken ¹  to Gad the prophet, David’s seer:
