Can the papyrus plant grow tall ¹  where there is no marsh? Can reeds flourish ²  without water?

and because lawlessness will increase so much, the love of many will grow cold.

But grow in the grace and knowledge ¹  of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the honor both now and on ²  that eternal day. ³ 

I also saw in my dream ¹  seven heads of grain growing on one stalk, full and good.

But the righteous man holds to his way, and the one with clean hands grows stronger. ¹ 

May they be like the grass on the rooftops which withers before one can even pull it up, ¹
