If after all there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords),

Jesus answered, ¹  “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, you are gods’? ² 

So when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they shouted ¹  in the Lycaonian language, ²  “The gods have come down to us in human form!” ³ 

And you see and hear that this Paul has persuaded ¹  and turned away ²  a large crowd, ³  not only in Ephesus ⁴  but in practically all of the province of Asia, ⁵  by saying ⁶  that gods made by hands are not gods at all. ⁷
