He answered, ¹  “I told you already and you didn’t listen. ²  Why do you want to hear it ³  again? You people ⁴  don’t want to become his disciples too, do you?”

And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, who is to come.

He said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?”

Treat others ¹  in the same way that you would want them to treat you. ² 

but you are not willing to come to me so that you may have life.

So Jesus said to the twelve, “You don’t want to go away too, do you?” ¹ 

What do you want? Shall I come to you with a rod of discipline ¹  or with love and a spirit of gentleness?

Jesus stopped, called them, and said, “What do you want me to do for you?”

So Pilate asked them, ¹  “Do you want me to release the king of the Jews for you?”

and said, “What will you give me to betray him into your hands?” ¹  So they set out thirty silver coins for him.

So after they had assembled, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you, Jesus ¹  Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Christ?” ² 

The ¹  governor asked them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas!”

If an unbeliever invites you to dinner and you want to go, eat whatever is served without asking questions of conscience.

But now that you have come to know God (or rather to be known by God), how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless ¹  basic forces? ²  Do you want to be enslaved to them all over again? ³ 

For I am afraid that somehow when I come I will not find you what I wish, and you will find me ¹  not what you wish. I am afraid that ²  somehow there may be quarreling, jealousy, intense anger, selfish ambition, ³  slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.

You people ¹  are from ²  your father the devil, and you want to do what your father desires. ³  He ⁴  was a murderer from the beginning, and does not uphold the truth, ⁵  because there is no truth in him. Whenever he lies, ⁶  he speaks according to his own nature, ⁷  because he is a liar and the father of lies. ⁸
