If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven; ¹  if you retain anyone’s sins, they are retained.” ² 

while others were saying that Elijah ¹  had appeared, and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had risen. ² 

Now ¹  while some were speaking about the temple, how it was adorned ²  with beautiful stones and offerings, ³  Jesus ⁴  said,

After several days had passed, King Agrippa ¹  and Bernice arrived at Caesarea ²  to pay their respects ³  to Festus. ⁴ 

They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not understand what they are saying or the things they insist on so confidently. ¹ 

The sins of some people are obvious, going before them into judgment, but for others, they show up later. ¹ 

They have strayed from the truth ¹  by saying that the resurrection has already occurred, and they are undermining some people’s faith.

You, however, must continue ¹  in the things you have learned and are confident about. You know ²  who taught you ³ 

Now Herod ¹  the tetrarch ²  heard about everything that was happening, and he was thoroughly perplexed, ³  because some people were saying that John ⁴  had been raised from the dead,

After five days the high priest Ananias ¹  came down with some elders and an attorney ²  named ³  Tertullus, and they ⁴  brought formal charges ⁵  against Paul to the governor.

and the rest were to follow, ¹  some on planks ²  and some on pieces of the ship. ³  And in this way ⁴  all were brought safely to land.

He said, “Yes.” When Peter came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, ¹  “What do you think, Simon? From whom do earthly kings collect tolls or taxes – from their sons ²  or from foreigners?”
