So I do not run uncertainly or box like one who hits only air.

Whether then it was I or they, this is the way we preach and this is the way you believed.

Speak and act as those who will be judged by a law that gives freedom. ¹ 

Yes, Father, for this was your gracious will. ¹ 

Yet even on this point their testimony did not agree.

So they did as Jesus directed, ¹  and the people ²  all sat down.

The officers replied, “No one ever spoke like this man!”

Then the high priest said, “Are these things true?” ¹ 

So Paul left the Areopagus. ¹ 

But you did not learn about Christ like this,

And so by persevering, Abraham ¹  inherited the promise.

I wish that everyone was as I am. But each has his own gift from God, one this way, another that.

Nevertheless, ¹  as the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each person, so must he live. I give this sort of direction in all the churches.

So the last will be first, and the first last.”

How then would the scriptures that say it must happen this way be fulfilled?”

So also you, when you see these things happening, know ¹  that he is near, right at the door.

So it is with the one who stores up riches for himself, ¹  but is not rich toward God.”

In this way the word of the Lord ¹  continued to grow in power ²  and to prevail. ³ 

The Jews also joined in the verbal attack, ¹  claiming ²  that these things were true.

Thus I am eager ¹  also to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome. ²
