And the news of this spread throughout that region. ¹ 

So ¹  the news about him spread quickly throughout all the region around Galilee.

So ¹  he went into all of Galilee preaching in their synagogues ²  and casting out demons.

So ¹  the soldiers led him into the palace (that is, the governor’s residence) ²  and called together the whole cohort. ³ 

Now ¹  when it was noon, ²  darkness came over the whole land ³  until three in the afternoon. ⁴ 

It was now ¹  about noon, ²  and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, ³ 

Great ¹  fear gripped ²  the whole church ³  and all who heard about these things.

When they had crossed over ¹  the whole island as far as Paphos, ²  they found a magician, a Jewish false prophet named Bar-Jesus, ³ 

Paul ¹  lived ²  there two whole years in his own rented quarters ³  and welcomed ⁴  all who came to him,

As it is written, “For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” ¹ 

When the people ¹  there recognized him, they sent word into all the surrounding area, and they brought all their sick to him.

And about five o’clock that afternoon ¹  he went out and found others standing around, and said to them, ‘Why are you standing here all day without work?’

Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the governor’s residence ¹  and gathered the whole cohort ²  around him.

They ran through that whole region and began to bring the sick on mats to wherever he was rumored to be. ¹ 

Then a famine occurred throughout ¹  Egypt and Canaan, causing ²  great suffering, and our ³  ancestors ⁴  could not find food.

But about Israel he says, “All day long I held out my hands to this disobedient and stubborn people!” ¹ 

So a report about him spread throughout Syria. People ¹  brought to him all who suffered with various illnesses and afflictions, those who had seizures, ²  paralytics, and those possessed by demons, ³  and he healed them.

“Return to your home, ¹  and declare ²  what God has done for you.” ³  So ⁴  he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole town ⁵  what Jesus ⁶  had done for him.

One of them, named Agabus, got up ¹  and predicted ²  by the Spirit that a severe ³  famine ⁴  was about to come over the whole inhabited world. ⁵  (This ⁶  took place during the reign of Claudius.) ⁷ 

So ¹  that huge dragon – the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world – was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him.
