Now when Jesus saw a large crowd ¹  around him, he gave orders to go to the other side of the lake. ² 

Although ¹  Herod ²  wanted to kill John, ³  he feared the crowd because they accepted John as a prophet.

Then he called the crowd to him and said, ¹  “Listen and understand.

When ¹  they came to the crowd, a man came to him, knelt before him,

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release ¹  Barabbas instead.

They caused confusion among ¹  the crowd and the city officials ²  who heard these things.

As he got out he saw the large crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

The disciples said to him, “Where can we get enough bread in this desolate place to satisfy so great a crowd?”

But if we say, ‘From people,’ we fear the crowd, for they all consider John to be a prophet.”

Because of the crowd, he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him so the crowd ¹  would not press toward him.

Then ¹  he called the crowd again and said to them, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand.

“I have compassion on the crowd, because they have already been here with me three days, and they have nothing to eat.

When they came to the disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and experts in the law ¹  arguing with them.

But if we say, ‘From people – ’” (they feared the crowd, for they all considered John to be truly a prophet).

But when the apostles ¹  Barnabas and Paul heard about ²  it, they tore ³  their clothes and rushed out ⁴  into the crowd, shouting, ⁵ 

When Jesus entered the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the disorderly crowd,

As a result, the crowd was amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy, the lame walking, and the blind seeing, and they praised the God of Israel.

So ¹  after leaving the crowd, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat, ²  and other boats were with him.

His disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing against you and you say, ‘Who touched me?’”

As Jesus ¹  came ashore ²  he saw the large crowd and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So ³  he taught them many things.
