For those who sleep, sleep at night and those who get drunk are drunk at night.

As the night was ending, ¹  Jesus came to them walking on the sea. ² 

But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is here! Come out to meet him.’ ¹ 

Then he got up, took the child and his mother during ¹  the night, and went to Egypt.

telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came at night and stole his body ¹  while we were asleep.’

But during the night an angel of the Lord ¹  opened ²  the doors of the prison, ³  led them out, ⁴  and said,

But his disciples took him at night and let him down through an opening ¹  in the wall by lowering him in a basket. ² 

So the soldiers, in accordance with their orders, ¹  took ²  Paul and brought him to Antipatris ³  during the night.

For you all are sons of the light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of the darkness.

Each night and every day among the tombs and in the mountains, he would cry out and cut himself with stones.

Now ¹  there were shepherds ²  nearby ³  living out in the field, keeping guard ⁴  over their flock at night.

Simon ¹  answered, ²  “Master, ³  we worked hard all night and caught nothing! But at your word ⁴  I will lower ⁵  the nets.”

Won’t ¹  God give justice to his chosen ones, who cry out ²  to him day and night? ³  Will he delay ⁴  long to help them?

Nicodemus, the man who had previously come to Jesus ¹  at night, ²  accompanied Joseph, ³  carrying a mixture of myrrh and aloes ⁴  weighing about seventy-five pounds. ⁵ 

but Saul learned of their plot against him. ¹  They were also watching ²  the city gates ³  day and night so that they could kill him.

At ¹  that hour of the night he took them ²  and washed their wounds; ³  then ⁴  he and all his family ⁵  were baptized right away. ⁶ 

The brothers sent Paul and Silas off to Berea ¹  at once, during the night. When they arrived, ²  they went to the Jewish synagogue. ³ 

When the fourteenth night had come, while we were being driven ¹  across the Adriatic Sea, ²  about midnight the sailors suspected they were approaching some land. ³ 

We pray earnestly night and day to see you in person ¹  and make up what may be lacking in your faith.

and we did not eat anyone’s food without paying. ¹  Instead, in toil and drudgery we worked ²  night and day in order not to burden any of you.
