You ¹  once were not a people, but now you are God’s people. You were shown no mercy, ²  but now you have received mercy.

And all the people ¹  came to him early in the morning to listen to him in the temple courts. ² 

All ¹  the people saw him walking and praising God,

None of the rest dared to join them, ¹  but the people held them in high honor. ² 

‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart ¹  is far from me,

In ¹  reply all the people said, “Let his blood be on us and on our children!”

Now ¹  the people were waiting for Zechariah, and they began to wonder ²  why he was delayed in the holy place. ³ 

(Now ¹  all the people who heard this, even the tax collectors, ²  acknowledged ³  God’s justice, because they had been baptized ⁴  with John’s baptism.

but ¹  they could not find a way to do it, ²  for all the people hung on his words. ³ 

the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, and on those who sit in the region and shadow of death a light has dawned.” ¹ 

And immediately he regained ¹  his sight and followed Jesus, ²  praising ³  God. When ⁴  all the people saw it, they too ⁵  gave praise to God.

But if we say, ‘From people,’ all the people will stone us, because they are convinced that John was a prophet.”

Early in the morning he came to the temple courts again. All the people came to him, and he sat down and began to teach ¹  them.

While the man ¹  was hanging on to Peter and John, all the people, completely astounded, ran together to them in the covered walkway ²  called Solomon’s Portico. ³ 

“But as the time drew near for God to fulfill the promise he had declared to Abraham, ¹  the people increased greatly in number ²  in Egypt,

because I am with you, and no one will assault ¹  you to harm ²  you, because I have many people in this city.”

“And in the very place ¹  where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’” ² 

So do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.” ¹ 

He said to them, “Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart ¹  is far from me.

The people also stood there watching, but the rulers ridiculed ¹  him, saying, “He saved others. Let him save ²  himself if ³  he is the Christ ⁴  of God, his chosen one!”
