But Jesus cried out with a loud voice and breathed his last.

I also heard a sound ¹  coming out of heaven like the sound of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. Now ²  the sound I heard was like that made by harpists playing their harps,

Then ¹  I heard what sounded like the voice of a vast throng, like the roar of many waters and like loud crashes of thunder. They were shouting: ²  “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, ³  the All-Powerful, ⁴  reigns!

raised their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy ¹  on us.”

If, for example, the trumpet makes an unclear sound, who will get ready for battle?

He will not quarrel or cry out, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets.

They will never follow a stranger, ¹  but will run away from him, because they do not recognize ²  the stranger’s voice.” ³ 

He ¹  fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, ²  why are you persecuting me?” ³ 

I wish I could be with you now and change my tone of voice, ¹  because I am perplexed about you.

When this voice was conveyed from heaven, we ourselves ¹  heard it, for we were with him on the holy mountain. ² 

I was in the Spirit ¹  on the Lord’s Day ²  when ³  I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,

I ¹  turned to see whose voice was speaking to me, ²  and when I did so, ³  I saw seven golden lampstands,

Then ¹  when the Lamb opened the fourth seal I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come!”

After ¹  the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. So ²  they kept silent and told no one ³  at that time ⁴  anything of what they had seen.

And the Father who sent me has himself testified about me. You people ¹  have never heard his voice nor seen his form at any time, ² 

When he has brought all his own sheep ¹  out, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they recognize ²  his voice.

So when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they shouted ¹  in the Lycaonian language, ²  “The gods have come down to us in human form!” ³ 

Those who were with me saw the light, but did not understand ¹  the voice of the one who was speaking to me.

It is similar for lifeless things that make a sound, like a flute or harp. Unless they make a distinction in the notes, how can what is played on the flute or harp be understood?

Then ¹  the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a single voice coming from the ²  horns on the golden altar that is before God,
