We are Jews by birth ¹  and not Gentile sinners, ² 

Formerly when you did not know God, you were enslaved to beings that by nature are not gods at all. ¹ 

For whenever the Gentiles, ¹  who do not have the law, do by nature ²  the things required by the law, ³  these who do not have the law are a law to themselves.

For every kind of animal, bird, reptile, and sea creature ¹  is subdued and has been subdued by humankind. ² 

among whom ¹  all of us ²  also ³  formerly lived out our lives in the cravings of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath ⁴  even as the rest… ⁵
