You also are among them, ¹  called to belong to Jesus Christ. ² 

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

for you are still influenced by the flesh. ¹  For since there is still jealousy and dissension among you, are you not influenced by the flesh and behaving like unregenerate people? ² 

So then you are no longer foreigners and noncitizens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household,

But if you do not experience discipline, ¹  something all sons ²  have shared in, then you are illegitimate and are not sons.

Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize regarding yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you – unless, indeed, you fail the test! ¹ 

Jesus ¹  said, “Even after all this, are you still so foolish?

By saying this you testify against yourselves that you are descendants of those who murdered the prophets.

And he said to them, “Why are you cowardly? Do you still not have faith?”

“You are the ones who have remained ¹  with me in my trials.

But you refuse to believe because you are not my sheep.

If you understand ¹  these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

You are clean already ¹  because of the word that I have spoken to you.

You are my friends ¹  if you do what I command you.

and you also will testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

For sin will have no mastery over you, because you are not under law but under grace.

We are coworkers belonging to God. ¹  You are God’s field, God’s building.

Now you are Christ’s body, and each of you is a member of it.

And our hope for you is steadfast because we know that as you share in ¹  our sufferings, so also you will share in ²  our comfort.

Are you so foolish? Although you began ¹  with ²  the Spirit, are you now trying to finish ³  by human effort? ⁴
