For if they become heirs by the law, faith is empty and the promise is nullified. ¹ 

“Honor your father and mother,” ¹  which is the first commandment accompanied by a promise, namely,

Now this ¹  is the promise that he ²  himself made to ³  us: eternal life. ⁴ 

For the promise ¹  is for you and your children, and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”

For the promise ¹  to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not fulfilled through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.

But the scripture imprisoned ¹  everything and everyone ²  under sin so that the promise could be given – because of the faithfulness ³  of Jesus Christ – to those who believe.

and saying, ¹  “Where is his promised return? ²  For ever since ³  our ancestors ⁴  died, ⁵  all things have continued as they were ⁶  from the beginning of creation.”
