So ¹  with many parables like these, he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear.

However, no one spoke openly about him for fear of the Jewish leaders. ¹ 

Yet ¹  they were not able to resist ²  the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.

He was speaking and debating ¹  with the Greek-speaking Jews, ²  but they were trying to kill him.

For if Joshua had given them rest, God ¹  would not have spoken afterward about another day.

Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds; he did not speak to them without a parable.

So many gathered that there was no longer any room, not even by ¹  the door, and he preached the word to them.

He did not speak to them without a parable. But privately he explained everything to his own disciples.

And immediately the man’s ¹  ears were opened, his tongue loosened, and he spoke plainly.

He spoke openly about this. So ¹  Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.

Immediately ¹  Zechariah’s ²  mouth was opened and his tongue ³  released, ⁴  and he spoke, blessing God.

I ¹  turned to see whose voice was speaking to me, ²  and when I did so, ³  I saw seven golden lampstands,

But Peter ¹  insisted emphatically, ²  “Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you.” And all of them said the same thing.

At that moment, ¹  she came up to them ²  and began to give thanks to God and to speak ³  about the child ⁴  to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem. ⁵ 

They ¹  said to each other, “Didn’t ²  our hearts ³  burn within us ⁴  while he was speaking with us on the road, while he was explaining ⁵  the scriptures to us?”

Jesus told them this parable, ¹  but they ²  did not understand ³  what he was saying to them.

Then ¹  I saw another beast ²  coming up from the earth. He ³  had two horns like a lamb, ⁴  but ⁵  was speaking like a dragon.

But when the crowds found out, they followed him. He ¹  welcomed them, spoke to them about the kingdom of God, ²  and cured those who needed healing. ³ 

Now at that very moment his disciples came back. ¹  They were shocked ²  because he was speaking ³  with a woman. However, no one said, “What do you want?” ⁴  or “Why are you speaking with her?”

He had been instructed in ¹  the way of the Lord, and with great enthusiasm ²  he spoke and taught accurately the facts ³  about Jesus, although he knew ⁴  only the baptism of John.
