for God is not characterized by disorder but by peace. As in all the churches of the saints, ¹ 

Now we make known to you, brothers and sisters, ¹  the grace of God given to the churches of Macedonia,

Nevertheless, ¹  as the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each person, so must he live. I give this sort of direction in all the churches.

the women ¹  should be silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak. ²  Rather, let them be in submission, as in fact the law says.

With regard to the collection for the saints, please follow the directions that I gave to the churches of Galatia: ¹ 

The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers ¹  will in no way be harmed by the second death.’

As a result we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and afflictions you are enduring.
