Not that we are adequate ¹  in ourselves to consider anything as if it were coming from ourselves, but our adequacy ²  is from God,

In the same way ¹  husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

When ¹  the foolish ones took their lamps, they did not take extra ²  olive oil ³  with them.

But the wise ones took flasks of olive oil with their lamps.

Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps.

For you will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me! ¹ 

Suddenly when they looked around, they saw no one with them any more except Jesus.

“And ¹  why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?

As ¹  he rode along, they ²  spread their cloaks on the road.

When they sprout leaves, you see ¹  for yourselves and know that summer is now near.

For you will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me!” ¹ 

Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition ¹  or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself.

Each of you should be concerned ¹  not only ²  about your own interests, but about the interests of others as well. ³ 

Others are busy with their own concerns, not those of Jesus Christ.

But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.” ¹ 

Now ¹  they had forgotten to take bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.

So ¹  when Joseph and Mary ²  had performed ³  everything according to the law of the Lord, ⁴  they returned to Galilee, to their own town ⁵  of Nazareth. ⁶ 

I know ¹  what to do so that when I am put out of management, people will welcome me into their homes.’ ² 

But when the apostles ¹  Barnabas and Paul heard about ²  it, they tore ³  their clothes and rushed out ⁴  into the crowd, shouting, ⁵ 

Even from among your own group ¹  men ²  will arise, teaching perversions of the truth ³  to draw the disciples away after them.
