He asked them, “What are you arguing about with them?”

When they had brought them, they stood them before the council, ¹  and the high priest questioned ²  them,

So then, you will recognize them by their fruit.

“Bring them here to me,” he replied.

There were about four thousand ¹  who ate. ²  Then he dismissed them. ³ 

So the disciples went back to their homes.

Then he had them forced away ¹  from the judgment seat. ² 

When they came to the disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and experts in the law ¹  arguing with them.

Then ¹  Jesus ²  led them out as far as Bethany, ³  and lifting up his hands, he blessed them.

I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but that you keep them safe ¹  from the evil one. ² 

He ¹  saw them straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. As the night was ending, ²  he came to them walking on the sea, ³  for ⁴  he wanted to pass by them. ⁵ 

But many saw them leaving and recognized them, and they hurried on foot ¹  from all the towns ²  and arrived there ahead of them. ³ 

As Jesus ¹  came ashore ²  he saw the large crowd and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So ³  he taught them many things.

As ¹  he was saying this, a cloud ²  came ³  and overshadowed ⁴  them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.

But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to be their king, ¹  bring them here and slaughter ²  them ³  in front of me!’”

Then ¹  he began to teach ²  them by saying:

because he taught them like one who had authority, ¹  not like their experts in the law. ² 

As the night was ending, ¹  Jesus came to them walking on the sea. ² 

Large crowds followed him, and he healed them there.

The blind and lame came to him in the temple courts, and he healed them.
