For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision something that is outward in the flesh,

For nothing is hidden ¹  that will not be revealed, ²  and nothing concealed that will not be made known and brought to light.

But he sternly warned them not to make him known.

But ¹  he sternly ordered them not to make him known. ² 

Now the works of the flesh ¹  are obvious: ²  sexual immorality, impurity, depravity,

For nothing is hidden except to be revealed, ¹  and nothing concealed except to be brought to light.

because what can be known about God is plain to them, ¹  because God has made it plain to them.

For there must in fact be divisions among you, so that those of you who are approved may be evident. ¹ 

The ¹  whole imperial guard ²  and everyone else knows ³  that I am in prison ⁴  for the sake of Christ,

Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that everyone will see your progress. ¹ 

On their second visit Joseph made himself known to his brothers again, and Joseph’s family ¹  became known to Pharaoh.

Now ¹  King Herod ²  heard this, for Jesus’ ³  name had become known. Some ⁴  were saying, “John the baptizer ⁵  has been raised from the dead, and because of this, miraculous powers are at work in him.”

saying, “What should we do with these men? For it is plain ¹  to all who live in Jerusalem that a notable miraculous sign ²  has come about through them, ³  and we cannot deny it.

each builder’s ¹  work will be plainly seen, for the Day ²  will make it clear, because it will be revealed by fire. And the fire ³  will test what kind of work each has done.

The secrets of his heart are disclosed, and in this way he will fall down with his face to the ground and worship God, declaring, “God is really among you.”

By this ¹  the children of God and the children of the devil are revealed: Everyone who does not practice righteousness – the one who does not love his fellow Christian ²  – is not of God.
