When he knocked at the door of the outer gate, a slave girl named Rhoda answered. ¹ 

Children, ¹  obey your parents in the Lord ²  for this is right.

And by being perfected in this way, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him,

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires,

But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” ¹ 

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing in the Lord.

And the men ¹  were amazed and said, ²  “What sort of person is this? Even the winds and the sea obey him!” ³ 

They were overwhelmed by fear and said to one another, “Who then is this? ¹  Even the wind and sea obey him!” ² 

Do you not know that if you present yourselves ¹  as obedient slaves, ²  you are slaves of the one you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or obedience resulting in righteousness? ³ 

But thanks be to God that though you were slaves to sin, you obeyed ¹  from the heart that pattern ²  of teaching you were entrusted to,

Slaves, ¹  obey your human masters ²  with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart as to Christ,

Slaves, ¹  obey your earthly ²  masters in every respect, not only when they are watching – like those who are strictly people-pleasers – but with a sincere heart, fearing the Lord.

With flaming fire he will mete out ¹  punishment on those who do not know God ²  and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

But if anyone does not obey our message through this letter, take note of him and do not associate closely with him, so that he may be ashamed.

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place he would later receive as an inheritance, and he went out without understanding where he was going.

like Sarah who obeyed ¹  Abraham, calling him lord. You become her children ²  when you do what is good and have no fear in doing so. ³ 

They were all amazed so that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He even commands the unclean spirits and they obey him.”

Then ¹  he said to them, “Where is your faith?” ²  But they were afraid and amazed, ³  saying to one another, “Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the water, ⁴  and they obey him!”

So ¹  the Lord replied, ²  “If ³  you had faith the size of ⁴  a mustard seed, you could say to this black mulberry ⁵  tree, ‘Be pulled out by the roots and planted in the sea,’ ⁶  and it would obey ⁷  you.

The word of God continued to spread, ¹  the number of disciples in Jerusalem ²  increased greatly, and a large group ³  of priests became obedient to the faith.
