By faith the walls of Jericho ¹  fell after the people marched around them ²  for seven days.

But his disciples took him at night and let him down through an opening ¹  in the wall by lowering him in a basket. ² 

but I was let down in a rope-basket ¹  through a window in the city wall, and escaped his hands.

He also measured its wall, one hundred forty-four cubits ¹  according to human measurement, which is also the angel’s. ² 

The city’s ¹  wall is made ²  of jasper and the city is pure gold, like transparent glass. ³ 

The ¹  wall of the city has twelve foundations, and on them are the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

The angel ¹  who spoke to me had a golden measuring rod with which to measure the city and its foundation stones and wall.

It has ¹  a massive, high wall ²  with twelve gates, ³  with twelve angels at the gates, and the names of the twelve tribes of the nation of Israel ⁴  are written on the gates. ⁵ 

The foundations of the city’s wall are decorated ¹  with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation is jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, ²  the fourth emerald,
