As it is written, “For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” ¹ 

You have lived indulgently and luxuriously on the earth. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. ¹ 

Now the passage of scripture the man ¹  was reading was this: “He was led like a sheep to slaughter, and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did ²  not open his mouth.
