(Now Bethany was less than two miles ¹  from Jerusalem, ² 

Meanwhile the boat, already far from land, ¹  was taking a beating from the waves because the wind was against it.

Now ¹  that very day two of them ²  were on their way to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles ³  from Jerusalem. ⁴ 

Then, when they had rowed about three or four miles, ¹  they caught sight of Jesus walking on the lake, ²  approaching the boat, and they were frightened.

Do you not know that all the runners in a stadium compete, but only one receives the prize? So run to win.

Then ¹  the winepress was stomped ²  outside the city, and blood poured out of the winepress up to the height of horses’ bridles ³  for a distance of almost two hundred miles. ⁴ 

Now ¹  the city is laid out as a square, ²  its length and width the same. He ³  measured the city with the measuring rod ⁴  at fourteen hundred miles ⁵  (its length and width and height are equal).
