“But woe ¹  to you who are rich, for you have received ²  your comfort ³  already.

He then ¹  told them a parable: ²  “The land of a certain rich man produced ³  an abundant crop,

But when the man ¹  heard this he became very sad, ²  for he was extremely wealthy.

Jesus ¹  looked up ²  and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box. ³ 

But the rich person’s pride should be in his humiliation, because he will pass away like a wildflower in the meadow. ¹ 

Now ¹  when it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who was also a disciple of Jesus. ² 

It is easier for a camel ¹  to go through the eye of a needle ²  than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”

“There was a rich man who dressed in purple ¹  and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously ²  every day.

In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle ¹  than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”

Now ¹  a man named Zacchaeus was there; he was a chief tax collector ²  and was rich.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,

But you have dishonored the poor! ¹  Are not the rich oppressing you and dragging you into the courts?

Come now, you rich! Weep and cry aloud ¹  over the miseries that are coming on you.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, ¹  it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven!

Again I say, ¹  it is easier for a camel ²  to go through the eye of a needle ³  than for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of God.”

Then ¹  he ²  sat down opposite the offering box, ³  and watched the crowd putting coins into it. Many rich people were throwing in large amounts.

who longed to eat ¹  what fell from the rich man’s table. In addition, the dogs ²  came and licked ³  his sores.

“Now ¹  the poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. ²  The ³  rich man also died and was buried. ⁴ 

For you know the grace ¹  of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that you by his poverty could become rich.

Command those who are rich in this world’s goods ¹  not to be haughty or to set their hope on riches, which are uncertain, ²  but on God who richly provides us with all things for our enjoyment.
