Manasseh passed away ¹  and was buried in his palace garden, the garden of Uzzah, and his son Amon replaced him as king.

Now at the place where Jesus ¹  was crucified ²  there was a garden, ³  and in the garden ⁴  was a new tomb where no one had yet been buried. ⁵ 

The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat ¹  of the fruit from the trees of the orchard;

The Beloved to the Maidens: My beloved has gone down to his garden, ¹  to the flowerbeds of balsam spices, ²  to graze ³  in the gardens, and to gather lilies. ⁴ 

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God moving about ¹  in the orchard at the breezy time ²  of the day, and they hid ³  from the Lord God among the trees of the orchard.

I designed ¹  royal gardens ²  and parks ³  for myself, and I planted all kinds of fruit trees in them.

He was buried ¹  in his tomb in the garden of Uzzah, and his son Josiah replaced him as king.

He is a well-watered plant ¹  in ²  the sun, its shoots spread ³  over its garden. ⁴ 

You are a garden spring, ¹  a well ²  of fresh water ³  flowing down from Lebanon.

‘Build houses and settle down. Plant gardens and eat what they produce.

I made it beautiful with its many branches; all the trees of Eden, in the garden of God, envied it.

The cedars in the garden of God could not eclipse it, nor could the fir trees ¹  match its boughs; the plane trees were as nothing compared to its branches; no tree in the garden of God could rival its beauty.

The Lord God planted an orchard ¹  in the east, ²  in Eden; ³  and there he placed the man he had formed. ⁴ 

Now ¹  a river flows ²  from Eden ³  to water the orchard, and from there it divides ⁴  into four headstreams. ⁵ 

The Lord God took the man and placed ¹  him in the orchard in ²  Eden to care for it and to maintain it. ³ 

Then the Lord God commanded ¹  the man, “You may freely eat ²  fruit ³  from every tree of the orchard,

For you will be like a tree whose leaves wither, like an orchard ¹  that is unwatered.

The man replied, ¹  “I heard you moving about ²  in the orchard, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.”

The Lover to His Beloved: You are a locked garden, ¹  my sister, my bride; you are an enclosed spring, a sealed-up fountain.

The Beloved to Her Lover: Awake, O north wind; come, O south wind! Blow on my garden so that its fragrant spices may send out their sweet smell. ¹  May my beloved come into his garden and eat its delightful fruit!
