Now the famine was severe in the land. ¹ 

There was a famine in the land, so Abram went down to Egypt ¹  to stay for a while ²  because the famine was severe. ³ 

In time of famine ¹  he will redeem you from death, and in time of war from the power of the sword. ² 

You will laugh at destruction and famine ¹  and need not ²  be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

by saving their lives from death ¹  and sustaining them during times of famine. ² 

They will not be ashamed when hard times come; ¹  when famine comes they will have enough to eat. ² 

Be certain of this, ¹  the time is ²  coming,” says the sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land – not a shortage of food or water but an end to divine revelation! ³ 

There was a famine in the land, subsequent to the earlier famine that occurred ¹  in the days of Abraham. ²  Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines at Gerar.

But seven years of famine will occur ¹  after them, and all the abundance will be forgotten in the land of Egypt. The famine will devastate ²  the land.

This food should be held in storage for the land in preparation for the seven years of famine that will occur throughout the land of Egypt. In this way the land will survive the famine.” ¹ 

While the famine was over all the earth, ¹  Joseph opened the storehouses ²  and sold grain to the Egyptians. The famine was severe throughout the land of Egypt.

But there was no food in all the land because the famine was very severe; the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan wasted away ¹  because of the famine.

I will shoot against them deadly, ¹  destructive ²  arrows of famine, ³  which I will shoot to destroy you. ⁴  I will prolong a famine on you and will remove the bread supply. ⁵ 

Our skin is hot as an oven due to a fever from hunger. ¹ 

The previous abundance of the land will not be remembered ¹  because of the famine that follows, for the famine will be very severe. ² 

Then the seven years of famine began, ¹  just as Joseph had predicted. There was famine in all the other lands, but throughout the land of Egypt there was food.

The sword is outside; pestilence and famine are inside the house. Whoever is in the open field will die by the sword, and famine and pestilence will consume everyone in the city.

He called down a famine upon the earth; he cut off all the food supply. ¹ 

By the ninth day of the fourth month ¹  the famine in the city was so severe the residents ²  had no food.

For nation will rise up in arms ¹  against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines ²  and earthquakes ³  in various places.
