If it is torn in pieces, then he will bring it for evidence, ¹  and he will not have to pay for what was torn.

At the testimony of two or three witnesses they must be executed. They cannot be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.

Then the father and mother of the young woman must produce the evidence of virginity ¹  for the elders of the city at the gate.

This is evidence of God’s righteous judgment, to make you worthy ¹  of the kingdom of God, for which in fact you are suffering.

But if the accusation is true and the young woman was not a virgin,

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.

The faithful witness ¹  tells what is right, ²  but a false witness ³  speaks ⁴  deceit.

nor can they prove ¹  to you the things ²  they are accusing me of doing. ³ 

The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find anything.

This is the third time I am coming to visit ¹  you. By the testimony ²  of two or three witnesses every matter will be established. ³

He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony.

But would you like evidence, ¹  you empty fellow, ²  that faith without works is useless? ³ 

Moreover, he has raised accusations of impropriety by saying, ‘I discovered your daughter was not a virgin,’ but this is the evidence of my daughter’s virginity!” The cloth must then be spread out ¹  before the city’s elders.

“Whoever kills any person, the murderer must be put to death by the testimony ¹  of witnesses; but one witness cannot ²  testify against any person to cause him to be put to death.

A single witness may not testify ¹  against another person for any trespass or sin that he commits. A matter may be legally established ²  only on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
