They are calloused; ¹  they speak arrogantly. ² 

Their hearts are calloused, ¹  but I find delight in your law.

Because they are callous, they have given themselves over to indecency for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. ¹ 

Make the hearts of these people calloused; make their ears deaf and their eyes blind! Otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears, their hearts might understand and they might repent and be healed.” ¹ 

Their prosperity causes them to do wrong; ¹  their thoughts are sinful. ² 

A kind person ¹  benefits ²  himself, ³  but a cruel person brings himself trouble. ⁴ 

A violent person ¹  entices ²  his neighbor, and leads him down a path that is terrible. ³ 

because they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

he has filled the hungry with good things, ¹  and has sent the rich away empty. ² 

Do not give offense to Jews or Greeks or to the church of God,

unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, opposed to what is good,

For the heart of this people has become dull, ¹  and their ears are hard of hearing, ²  and they have closed their eyes, so that they would not see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, ³  and I would heal them.”’ ⁴ 

“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, ¹  so that they would not see with their eyes and understand with their heart, ²  and turn to me, ³  and I would heal them.” ⁴ 

But because of your stubbornness ¹  and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath for yourselves in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed! ² 

What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was diligently seeking, but the elect obtained it. The ¹  rest were hardened,

Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast ¹  affects ²  the whole batch of dough?

Hear my prayer, O Lord! Listen to my cry for help! Do not ignore my sobbing! ¹  For I am dependent on you, like one residing outside his native land; I am at your mercy, just as all my ancestors were. ² 

But their minds were closed. ¹  For to this very day, the same veil remains when they hear the old covenant read. ²  It has not been removed because only in Christ is it taken away. ³
