(For they had seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with him previously, and ¹  they assumed Paul had brought him into the inner temple courts.) ² 

if indeed ¹  you have heard of the stewardship ²  of God’s grace that was given to me for you,

if indeed you heard about him and were taught in him, just as the truth is in Jesus.

Furthermore, Solomon has assumed the royal throne. ¹ 

but (because they assumed that he was in their group of travelers) ¹  they went a day’s journey. Then ²  they began to look for him among their relatives and acquaintances. ³ 

When the jailer woke up ¹  and saw the doors of the prison standing open, ²  he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, ³  because he assumed ⁴  the prisoners had escaped.

I am speaking to thoughtful people. Consider what I say.

And when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more. But each one also received the standard wage.

with these words: ¹  “We give you thanks, Lord God, the All-Powerful, ²  the one who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and begun to reign. ³ 

Relent, ¹  let there be no falsehood; ²  reconsider, ³  for my righteousness is intact! ⁴ 

Do not be wise in your own estimation; ¹  fear the Lord and turn away from evil. ² 

Better is a person of humble standing ¹  who nevertheless has a servant, ²  than one who pretends to be somebody important ³  yet has no food.

She considers ¹  a field and buys it; from her own income ²  she plants a vineyard.

But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law ¹  and boast of your relationship to God ² 

Actually, there are many advantages. ¹  First of all, ²  the Jews ³  were entrusted with the oracles of God. ⁴ 

but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, ¹  by looking like other men, ²  and by sharing in human nature. ³ 

And no one assumes this honor ¹  on his own initiative, ²  but only when called to it by God, ³  as in fact Aaron was.

Abraham replied, “Because I thought, ¹  ‘Surely no one fears God in this place. They will kill me because of ²  my wife.’

When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute ¹  because she had covered her face.

So you are to appoint Aaron and his sons, and they will be responsible for their priesthood; ¹  but the unauthorized person ²  who comes near must be put to death.”
