Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,

The sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

Now these are the names of the men who are to help ¹  you: from ²  Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;

Now these were their names: from the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur;

¹  from the tribe of Reuben: Bezer, Jahaz,

These were the sons of Israel: ¹  Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah; Issachar and Zebulun;

The sons of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

Next to the border of Ephraim from the east side to the west, Reuben will have one portion.

¹ These are the heads of their fathers’ households: ²  The sons ³  of Reuben, the firstborn son of Israel, were Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi. These were the clans ⁴  of Reuben.

May Reuben live and not die, and may his people multiply. ¹ 

The border of the tribe of Reuben was the Jordan. The land allotted to the tribe of Reuben by its clans included these cities and their towns. ¹ 

The Reubenites rebuilt Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim,
