When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she did not open the gate, but ran back in and told ¹  them ²  that Peter was standing at the gate.

(Now Philip was from Bethsaida, ¹  the town of ²  Andrew and Peter.)

One of Jesus’ disciples, ¹  Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,

But Peter ¹  said to him, “Explain this parable to us.”

Simon Peter answered, ¹  “You are the Christ, ²  the Son of the living God.”

He appointed twelve: ¹  To Simon ²  he gave the name Peter;

Then Peter denied it again, and immediately a rooster crowed. ¹ 

Then Peter and the other disciple set out to go to the tomb. ¹ 

So when Peter saw him, ¹  he asked Jesus, “Lord, what about him?”

Then ¹  a voice said ²  to him, “Get up, Peter; slaughter ³  and eat!”

They ¹  called out to ask if Simon, known as Peter, ²  was staying there as a guest.

Now ¹  when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying down, ²  sick with a fever.

But Simon Peter was left standing outside by the door. So the other disciple who was acquainted with the high priest came out and spoke to the slave girl who watched the door, ¹  and brought Peter inside.

Simon ¹  (whom he named Peter), and his brother Andrew; and James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, ² 

Peter looked directly ¹  at him (as did John) and said, “Look at us!”

Then he came to Simon Peter. Peter ¹  said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash ²  my feet?”

At daybreak ¹  there was great consternation ²  among the soldiers over what had become of Peter.

Then ¹  the Lord turned and looked straight at Peter, and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, ²  how he had said to him, “Before a rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.”

Peter ¹  said to him, ²  “Lord, if it is you, order me to come to you on the water.”

So he said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.
