Now the Jewish feast of Tabernacles ¹  was near. ² 

and not pay attention to Jewish myths ¹  and commands of people who reject the truth.

Then there was a great outcry from the people and their wives against their fellow Jews. ¹ 

(Now seven sons of a man named ¹  Sceva, a Jewish high priest, were doing this.) ² 

And so, because it was the Jewish day of preparation ¹  and the tomb was nearby, ²  they placed Jesus’ body there.

(Now the Jewish feast of the Passover ¹  was near.) ² 

When they had crossed over ¹  the whole island as far as Paphos, ²  they found a magician, a Jewish false prophet named Bar-Jesus, ³ 

He also came to Derbe ¹  and to Lystra. ²  A disciple ³  named Timothy was there, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, ⁴  but whose father was a Greek. ⁵ 

Now a certain man, a Pharisee ¹  named Nicodemus, who was a member of the Jewish ruling council, ² 

After this ¹  there was a Jewish feast, ²  and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. ³ 

However, no one spoke openly about him for fear of the Jewish leaders. ¹ 

Now ¹  there was a man named Joseph who was a member of the council, ²  a good and righteous man.

Then the squad of soldiers ¹  with their commanding officer ²  and the officers of the Jewish leaders ³  arrested ⁴  Jesus and tied him up. ⁵ 

Then they took Jesus’ body and wrapped it, with the aromatic spices, ¹  in strips of linen cloth ²  according to Jewish burial customs. ³ 

When ¹  Peter came to himself, he said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued ²  me from the hand ³  of Herod ⁴  and from everything the Jewish people ⁵  were expecting to happen.”

When the centurion ¹  heard ²  about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders ³  to him, asking him to come ⁴  and heal his slave.

Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing, ¹  each holding twenty or thirty gallons. ² 

Some days later, when Felix ¹  arrived with his wife Drusilla, ²  who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him speak ³  about faith in Christ Jesus. ⁴ 

But some itinerant ¹  Jewish exorcists tried to invoke the name ²  of the Lord Jesus over those who were possessed by ³  evil spirits, saying, “I sternly warn ⁴  you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.”

The same thing happened in Iconium ¹  when Paul and Barnabas ²  went into the Jewish synagogue ³  and spoke in such a way that a large group ⁴  of both Jews and Greeks believed.
