Now while Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper,

Now ¹  the next day, as they went out from Bethany, he was hungry.

(Now Bethany was less than two miles ¹  from Jerusalem, ² 

These things happened in Bethany ¹  across the Jordan River ²  where John was baptizing.

And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and spent the night there.

Now a certain man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village where Mary and her sister Martha lived. ¹ 

Now ¹  as they approached Jerusalem, ²  near Bethphage ³  and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, ⁴  Jesus ⁵  sent two of his disciples

Then ¹  Jesus ²  entered Jerusalem and went to the temple. And after looking around at everything, he went out to Bethany with the twelve since it was already late.

Now ¹  when he approached Bethphage ²  and Bethany, at the place called the Mount of Olives, ³  he sent two of the disciples,

Then ¹  Jesus ²  led them out as far as Bethany, ³  and lifting up his hands, he blessed them.

Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom he ¹  had raised from the dead.

Now ¹  while Jesus ²  was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, reclining at the table, ³  a woman came with an alabaster jar ⁴  of costly aromatic oil ⁵  from pure nard. After breaking open the jar, she poured it on his head.

When ¹  Jesus arrived, ²  he found that Lazarus ³  had been in the tomb four days already. ⁴ 

Now a large crowd of Judeans ¹  learned ²  that Jesus ³  was there, and so they came not only because of him ⁴  but also to see Lazarus whom he had raised from the dead.
