A proud ¹  and arrogant ²  person, whose name is “Scoffer,” ³  acts ⁴  with overbearing pride. ⁵ 

Scatter abroad ¹  the abundance ²  of your anger. Look at every proud man ³  and bring him low;

Rise up, O judge of the earth! Pay back the proud!

Haughty eyes and a proud heart – the agricultural product ¹  of the wicked is sin.

Proud beasts ¹  have not set foot on it, and no lion has passed along it.

when I said, ‘To here you may come ¹  and no farther, ²  here your proud waves will be confined’? ³ 

Look at every proud man and abase him; crush the wicked on the spot! ¹ 

We have had our fill ¹  of the taunts of the self-assured, of the contempt of the proud.

The Lord tears down the house of the proud, ¹  but he maintains the boundaries of the widow. ² 

It is better to be lowly in spirit ¹  with the afflicted than to share the spoils ²  with the proud.

He has demonstrated power ¹  with his arm; he has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance ²  of their hearts.

But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.” ¹ 

How blessed ¹  is the one ²  who trusts in the Lord ³  and does not seek help from ⁴  the proud or from liars! ⁵ 

Indeed, the Lord who commands armies has planned a day of judgment, ¹  for ²  all the high and mighty, for all who are proud – they will be humiliated;

May the Lord cut off ¹  all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts! ² 

The splendid crown of Ephraim’s drunkards will be trampled underfoot.

Then I said to the people of Judah, ¹  “Listen and pay attention! Do not be arrogant! For the Lord has spoken.

Though the Lord is exalted, he takes note of the lowly, and recognizes the proud from far away.

The Lord abhors ¹  every arrogant person; ²  rest assured ³  that they will not go unpunished. ⁴ 

I have heard how proud the people of Moab are, I know how haughty they are. I have heard how arrogant, proud, and haughty they are, what a high opinion they have of themselves. ¹
