On the other hand, you may slaughter and eat meat as you please when the Lord your God blesses you ¹  in all your villages. ²  Both the ritually pure and impure may eat it, whether it is a gazelle or an ibex.

He said to me, ‘Look, you will conceive and have a son. ¹  So now, do not drink wine or beer and do not eat any food that will make you ritually unclean. ²  For the child will be dedicated ³  to God from birth till the day he dies.’”

Everyone shares the same fate ¹  – the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad, ²  the ceremonially clean and unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not. What happens to the good person, also happens to the sinner; ³  what happens to those who make vows, also happens to those who are afraid to make vows.

Now this is his uncleanness in regard to his discharge ¹  – whether his body secretes his discharge or blocks his discharge, he is unclean. All the days that his body has a discharge or his body blocks his discharge, ²  this is his uncleanness. ³ 

“‘Thus you ¹  are to set the Israelites apart from their impurity so that they ²  do not die in their impurity by defiling my tabernacle which is in their midst.

“Command the Israelites to expel ¹  from the camp every leper, ²  everyone who has a discharge, ³  and whoever becomes defiled by a corpse. ⁴ 

It happened that some men ¹  who were ceremonially defiled ²  by the dead body of a man ³  could not keep ⁴  the Passover on that day, so they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day.

They rendered the beauty of his ornaments into pride, ¹  and with it they made their abominable images – their detestable idols. Therefore I will render it filthy to them.

They ¹  were all amazed and began to say ²  to one another, “What’s happening here? ³  For with authority and power ⁴  he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”

Then ¹  I saw three unclean spirits ²  that looked like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

but ¹  nothing ritually unclean ²  will ever enter into it, nor anyone who does what is detestable ³  or practices falsehood, ⁴  but only those whose names ⁵  are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

You must not have sexual intercourse ¹  with the wife of your fellow citizen to become unclean with her.

He must not defile himself as a husband among his people so as to profane himself. ¹ 

He must not go where there is any dead person; ¹  he must not defile himself even for his father and his mother.

But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these things defile a person.

And they saw that some of Jesus’ disciples ate their bread with unclean hands, that is, unwashed.

Pairs ¹  of clean animals, of unclean animals, of birds, and of everything that creeps along the ground,

The priest must then examine it after the infection has been washed out, and if ¹  the infection has not changed its appearance ²  even though the infection has not spread, it is unclean. You must burn it up in the fire. It is a fungus, whether on the back side or front side of the article. ³ 

“‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things, for the nations which I am about to drive out before you ¹  have been defiled with all these things.

However, you may not eat the following animals among those that chew the cud or those that have divided hooves: the camel, the hare, and the rock badger. ¹  (Although they chew the cud, they do not have divided hooves and are therefore ritually impure to you).
