A poor person ¹  who oppresses the weak is like ²  a driving rain without food. ³ 

(Make the chain, ¹  because the land is full of murder ²  and the city is full of violence.)

You refuse to believe a day of disaster will come, ¹  but you establish a reign of violence. ² 

Woe to the city guilty of bloodshed! ¹  She is full of lies; ²  she is filled with plunder; ³  she has hoarded her spoil! ⁴ 

The next day, because we were violently battered by the storm, ¹  they began throwing the cargo overboard, ² 

yet even ¹  angels, who are much more powerful, ²  do not bring a slanderous ³  judgment against them before the Lord. ⁴ 

The first disappeared ¹  and I said, “He has surely been torn to pieces.” I have not seen him since.

He wept loudly; ¹  the Egyptians heard it and Pharaoh’s household heard about it. ² 

If the river rages, ¹  it is not disturbed, it is secure, ²  though the Jordan should surge up to its mouth.

From the mouths of children and nursing babies you have ordained praise on account of your adversaries, ¹  so that you might put an end to the vindictive enemy. ² 

Rescue me from the guilt of murder, ¹  O God, the God who delivers me! Then my tongue will shout for joy because of your deliverance. ² 

He will defend ¹  the oppressed among the people; he will deliver ²  the children ³  of the poor and crush the oppressor.

Above the sound of the surging water, ¹  and the mighty waves of the sea, the Lord sits enthroned in majesty. ² 

A person with great anger bears the penalty, ¹  but if you deliver him from it once, you will have to do it again. ² 

Who has woe? ¹  Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has dullness ²  of the eyes?

It ¹  furiously struck down nations with unceasing blows. ²  It angrily ruled over nations, oppressing them without restraint. ³ 

You will no longer see a defiant ¹  people whose language you do not comprehend, ²  whose derisive speech you do not understand. ³ 

I see ¹  one destruction after another taking place, so that the whole land lies in ruins. I see our ²  tents suddenly destroyed, their ³  curtains torn down in a mere instant. ⁴ 

But just watch! ¹  The wrath of the Lord will come like a storm! ²  Like a raging storm it will rage down ³  on the heads of those who are wicked.

Violence ¹  has grown into a staff that supports wickedness. Not one of them will be left ²  – not from their crowd, not from their wealth, not from their prominence. ³
